Margaret and Addie have run Islesburgh farm for the past 36 years.
Of the 430ha unit, only 20ha is not converted to Organic production and that portion is
used to produce silage for the 20 head of conventional Shetland
cattle.
They have had full organic status since 2002, and run a flock
of 380 native Shetland sheep and 120
Shetland X Cheviots.
Fat lambs go the local slaughterhouse.
Addie and Margaret are renowned
for the quality of their fine Shetland fleeces, regularly
picking up prizes at local shows and the Royal Highland Show,
Edinburgh.
